If it's on a clinet machine, you will run into serious problems when the
time difference to the server gets too big, when you have server
filesystems mounted on the client (which is why you use a server in the
first place). Then I want my desktop clock to work, showing anything
between 3 days late and 5 hours ahead is not good enough. Next problem
is all the people complaining about their email sorting being foobared.
I'd ignore those, given that at any one time, X% of senders' time is
with the fairies, sorting by senders' time is useless by design.
Unfortunately, many mail clients are more supportive of chaos theory
than usable mail handling. Sorting by time received is the only usable
alternative, short of sorting by mailbox order, which latter day mail
clients uniformly have no concept of.
