Windows people don't keep settings on migration? Is this general, or
just where you work? (Ammo... migrating to Vista loses you your settings
too.)

... rather old, but the ethernet went ootb with 2.6.16, in slackware
10.2; but this guy had Broadcom BCM5752 Gigabit Ethernet and Intel 3945
wifi.

So I think you need to be more specific.
