[nzlug] All email clients suck, no exceptions

I still want to know what counts as a large amount of mail, whether in
terms of message count or mailbox size.

FWIW I have been using Evolution for some time with SpamAssassin. The
spam filtering is pretty damned good and I don't see false positives.
I really like having my mail locally in mbox format - it can be sliced
and diced from the command line easily, there are good Perl and Python
APIs for mbox, and backups are simply a matter of copying the
.evolution directory.

Evo is pretty bloaty if you just use it for mail, I'll say that, but I
haven't had a machine where that matters for several years. There are
some little UI annoyances, like the way it deals with autocompleting
addresses when you're composing email, but I don't know that another
client wouldn't have equal annoyances.

Is anyone using balsa these days?
