Well, there's always GMail / Google Apps if you're not worried about
"The Man" having all your emails.

Fast, great search, great spam filtering, multi-GB storage, address
books, calendar, pretty good UI, good threading, tagging, flagging,
imports from IMAP/Exchange, multiple outbound addresses, polls POP
accounts, server-side filtering, accessible from anywhere, no
blacklisting problems, regular updates, mobile client...

It /is/ different from other clients, but once you get used to how it
works its no less powerful.

And if you decide it sucks you can always use POP to suck it all down
again to somewhere else.
