My mail stores (Inbox/Sent/half a dozen other stores) are around 200MB
in size * (total), and contain ~29,000 messages (yes, three zeros :-) )
- mainly mailing list posts.

I can do a search on the body of ALL messages for the keyword 'the' -
which gives ~28,500 matches - this search took ~12 seconds max.

Subsequent searches exactly the same as before take 6 seconds -
obviously due to caching.

Hardware:
=======
Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 (1.86GHz)
2GB RAM
Seagate ST3320620AS (320GB/SATA/16MB Cache/7,200RPM)

Software:
======
Ubuntu 6.06
Mozilla 1.7.12 (suite, with mail/browser/etc. in one).

I'm curious how other mail clients perform?

* I've had previous versions of Mozilla with mail stores >1GB - starts
to get a little sluggish, although it was on a P-2 350MHz with 384?MB
RAM :-)

Cheers,

Elroy.

P.S: 'apt-get install stopwatch' if you were wondering ;-)
