While I'm totally impressed with RepRap, I can't say I'm at all
surprised, given some conversation I had with Vik during a tech briefing
he gave to the Greens in Auckland circa 2004.

What a brilliant start! I can see an evolution path for the machine
where it gains the ability to replicate itself 100% and reassemble a
complete and identical working clone of itself (except for the
electronic components).

But the real poo won't hit the fan till it's working at nanotech level
with fabrication capabilities right down to molecular level.
