uPnP I expect. And it doesn't use DHCP automatically? How horrible. I
had a D-Link ATA that didn't use DHCP, and it wasn't even a router. I
was irritated.

If it uses DHCP just tail your DHCP server's logs, it makes things
much easier. Otherwise find a machine with a spare ethernet port, plug
it in to that and see what happens. If it acts as a DHCP server then
you'll get an IP address and be able to stop the insanity, otherwise
see if it ARPs anything.
