[nzlug] Fans?!?

My understanding of monitored fans (i.e. mobo fan connectors) is that
they have three wires - Positive/Negative and Fan-RPM.

This will only enable the fans RPM to be monitored - no way to control
fan speed, unless the mobo supports this (are there any out there that
do? I believe Core 2 Duo CPU/mobos have this feature - i.e. 4-wire:
Positive/Negative/Fan-RPM and Fan-Speed-Control?)...

Other ideas:

Possibly look at a higher output PSU - one with it's own temp-controlled
fan, with a higher max flow rate than your current PSU fan - may or may
not help, but may be something to look at...

Maybe sort out an appropriate resistor and insert in-line with the
Positive lead on your big case fan, to drop it's speed a bit? (NOTE: Get
someone who knows what they are doing to figure out the right one - get
the voltage/wattage/current etc from your big fan and post to list...?)
