Just to add, Keith Packard also works for Intel, doing their graphics drivers
(or something like). And is the guy that forked X.Org. And is doing cool
stuff with making X better. He is the reason that Intel graphics support is
so good in Linux.
He also gives interesting talks at LCA on this kind of thing :)
