What are you serving? If it's not swapping, the system configuration is 
stable and you're mainly serving read-only data (or data from an 
external source), then why not?

Flash is still a lot more expensive in $/GB than HDDs, even slimline 
ones. You can get compact-flash hard drives quite cheap though, as a 
step before a notebook disk.
