Well, all I can say is, my old ECS KT600 worked perfectly until the power
supply took it out. Reason for a 754 is that I now have a 754 Sempron CPU.
And the second-hand board that seems to have a problem just happens to be an
Asus.

That's about what I'd concluded. Generally the only hassles I've had with
MB's in the past is with the video chipset on occasion.

Errm, many thanks for the offer, but I just don't know whether the old Athlon
CPU survived. I have a 754 Sempron CPU that does seem to work (assuming
the current glitches are the motherboard not the CPU, which seems likely) so
my most likely bet is to get a board for that.
