ECS tend to make crap motherboards reliability wise (seen many with 
bulging caps etc.. etc..). I would reconsider your purchase if you can. 
Gigabyte/ASUS (same company now) make nice cheap boards why not instead 
of buying a socket 754 purchase a newer socket AM2 there wouldn't be any 
price saving on a 754.

Unless your planning on using on board SATA "Hardware Assisted" RAID (I 
prefer to use Linux software raid anyway) Linux compatibility isn't 
generally much of a problem on most motherboards though it always pays 
to check the chipsets of course.

If you think everything else on your old PC is ok and you only need a 
replacement socket 462 motherboard contact me off list and I'll see if I 
can find one lying around I should have one if I haven't scavenged 
capacitors off it.
