[nzlug] encrypted IMAP storage?

Hi,

I was wondering with all those email providers around now (Gmail, etc.)
whether it is possible to store the content on those in an encrypted way,
rather than just using transport layer encryption (SSL, TLS).

Background: Gmail offers huge storage space. However, I don't really prefer to
be all that transparent, especially not to an international organisation
under US jurisdiction. But this huge IMAP storage space may come in quite
handy to sort/filter my mail, and store and archive it there.

If I could just tell my mail client (currently using KMail in Kontact) and my
calendaring, etc. tools to store the resources in an encrypted format there
by default transparently to me ...

Any suggestions?

Guy
