That was the general idea, yes.   There must be a way to tell the CD/DVD 
creator which partition to use.  Mustn't there?

Not easily without repartitioning.   And I _have_ a spare 7GB directory I 
specifically reserved for DVD  iso creation.   K3b and Xcdroast use it.   
I've just found K3b seems to do the job OK, it would just be nice to make the 
default app work right.
