:( I'm getting this problem with an HP laptop, too. It has a hardware fault
(causing key-down/key-up events to sometimes go missing, and the touchpad to
go a bit crazy due to bytes getting lost), and they won't even consider
talking about it unless it can be replicated in Windows. The problems are,
a) it happened when we had windows installed anyway,
b) it only shows up when you've been using it for a while and it's warmed up
good and even then it's very intermittent,
c) I use it for work, so don't want to replace the OS because then I can't
work on it,
d) the problem is really widely known, but they refuse to acknowledge that
they've seen anything like it before.
It's a pity because otherwise it's a good 95% Linux compatible, the only
things that aren't is that the alt-f1 console doesn't show up once X has
started, and the dual monitor support is a bit weird (but that still sucks in
Linux anyway)
