That should not be necessary. If Mandriva is RedHat like there should be
a file called /etc/sysconfig/networkscripts/ifcfg-eth0 or similar. Edit
that as appropriate. One line should say something like "ON_BOOT=" and
this should be set to "YES". If Mandriva is like Debian there should be
a file called /etc/networking/interfaces. Edit that as appropriate. If
it does something else, there should be a way to do it without using the
deprecated /etc/rc.d/rc.local.
