TuSSH has a 'Special' menu that lets you insert special characters (actually 
they are split into two menus for some reason).

Also, I don't know about the 600 but on the 650 you hit Symbol (the one with 
the blue dot on it that turns the keys into number and symbol keys) then / 
(forward slash) then Alt which brings up a list of alternative options for 
that key. It works on a few keys but isn't readily documented anywhere that I 
found.
