Greetings,
A strange thing happened last Saturday. I called Slingshot technical
support regarding this problem. Their response was as follows:
<response>
Hi Rob
Thank you for using Slingshot's Online Help.
The reason for the disconnections is showing up as Lost Carrier. This is
your router losing the signal on the line, try connecting your router with
no extension cords or filters and everything else disconnected from the
line.
If you modem is a Dynalink modem give them a call on 0800 653 962 as it may
be faulty and they can arrange getting you a new one if necessary.
If it doesn't change anything see if you can get a different router from
somewhere. If that has the same problem then contact us again and we'll
probably need to get Telecom to send a technician.
</response>
Then after receiving this message, I disconnected 'everything' from the
sockets at about 10:00am and re-connected the router 1st, with no splitter
On reconnecting the phone with a splitter, my phone line appeared dead for
the whole day. Broadband was working but I had no dialling tone at all. I
even went as far as booking a service call with a Telecom technician.
Then at about 6:00 pm, I picked up the phone and the dialling tone was back,
furthermore, the router has not dropped the WAN connection since then, i.e.,
8 days now.
I can't explain this but it may help someone else with this problem to
follow the same procedure.
Best regards - Woodsey
