I don't have time to search for previous thread but why do you use AOSS
for an app which supports ALSA? Isn't AOSS to allow OSS only apps to
access ALSA devices? If I'm not missing something here Audacity should
run on ALSA system without using AOSS.

Ardour is awesome DAW but not designed for simple wave editing.
