SquirrelMail is just a web email reader - the Inbox will be stored
according to your IMAP server setup ... which begs me to ask why you
need to know where the Inbox is stored? You full time sys admin
should be able to help there more than us ... unless you can tell us
what software you are using - as then we can help with where the
configuration is stored.

Without getting into the holy war - if you want to know more details
about how email systems work, I would suggest to start here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email#How_Internet_e-mail_works

And there's some links to the RFC's which are the documents used to
work out how email is to work (or, in some large corporations
"embrace and extend"...)

Also - as an aside, I would suggest downloading a copy of VMWare
server and playing with things inside a VM setup before monkeying
about with a real mail server and causing panics ...

HTH,
Warren.
