Thanks for this. I will have a go - all part of learning (and I will
look into the VMware server that Michal mentioned as well).

I note your comment on performance with having 2 devices on the same IDE
channel even when not using something like RAID1. I'm a bit hamstrung in
that I only have the 2 onboard IDE channels and 2 x HDD's and 1 x CDRW
to get going. Nevermind, splitting up the RAID HDD's should make a
reasonable improvement, even if the CDRW slows the channel down a bit.

Many thanks to your reply as well as the others. I will post a close out
report when complete for the records (and as a guide to other 'greener'
users).
