Hi Vik,

Tried that but no luck.

If I reinstalled kdm (apt-get install kdm --reinstall), everything
seemed to be fine. But if I re-started the PC it would revert back to
my original problem.

Since I'm not on a mission critical PC, I did a dist-upgrade.

My problem is now solved.....I have a couple of new minor ones, but
this problem has been fixed (or is that by-passed...?)

Thanks for your help all the same.
