Nice, but starts heading down the 'complicated' route.
SNMP Trap Management requires you having the right mibs for every device
on your network, and getting the monitoring thresholds right.
I mean, you can trap each time someone switches off their workstation for
the night, or more often, if you're not careful.
To start with a simple little gui where network assets can be arrayed into
a logical order, with up/down/slow (maybe slow?), would be a start.
A columnised version of same would also be considered.
I've seen commercial software that does this, but am yet to fully
investigate the OSS alternatives. Will be doing a lil digging based on
info seen to date, though...
