Two points:

Can I suggest that this discussion be moved to the ADSL Discussion list as 
its not really on-topic for this forum (esp given the option of a local 
suitable alternative).

The ADSL Mailing list can be found here:

http://www.unixathome.org/adsl/

This list is far more appropriate as a venue for discussion of the NZ DSL 
service than NZLUG. (Seem to have to mention this semi-frequently).

Second point

Ian, please note that only subscribed addresses may post to NZLUG. I 
manually approved this post but future posts may be dropped with no 
notice.  A reminder for yourself and others...
