[nzlug] OMG, whats going on with my Ubuntu?!?

The network only works few seconds everytime I unplug the cable and
plug it in again. So if I unplug then plug again, I can ping the
machine for a while, then after 1-3 minutes the network connection is
gone again. Seems like when the network is idle, something turns it
off for good.
