Well, you could start your research at www.paypalsucks.com, although you 
might find a slight bias there.

I closed my account about 5 years ago, just in case.  I didn't think about 
why PayPal might be problematic- it seemed like a really cool idea- but 
once someone pointed out "How do you know they won't mess you around?" I 
thought "Oops, I don't".
