If I may put in my 10c on form factors. Using a Micro-ATX will get you down to
about the same size as a shuttle for a similar cost and allows you much more
freedom in parts as you are using standard components rather than
proprietary.
You can also do neat things like get a 3 drive hotswap cage that fits in 2 x 5
1/4 bays in a small form factor case.
That said, if you are after "server grade" stuff then neither of our
suggestions apply.
