Until you want to compare to files, and out of familiarity with DOS,
type 'fc file1 file2', and get dropped into $EDITOR, which is vi on
Debian.  (help fc if you want to know what it really is.  The default
editor is nano on Ubuntu).

Everyone using a UNIX shell should at least know how to get out of vi.
