Zeald.com is looking for a Junior Network Administrator to join our
growing team. Note that this is a fulltime position based in Albany,
Auckland (we aren't after a contractor or someone working from a remote
location). Anyone interested should email me (jonathon.sim at zeald.com)

Zeald.com is an Albany based, website development/hosting and e-business
consultancy company that specialises in websites that drive online sales
or generate business enquiries.

Zeald.com's network infrastructure consists of, amongst other things,
the following:
 - A web-hosting cluster of 9 servers using LVS, DRBD, Heartbeat and
Mysql-replication to host a perl-based application server providing
webhosting to our clients
 - Our internal network, using Linux Desktops (where possible), Asterisk
for VOIP, LDAP, Linux servers (standard stuff like samba and apache and
whatnot), and windows desktops where they cannot be avoided (eg graphic
designer's desktops).
 - Our consultant/contractor/telecommuting network, using OpenVPN,
Linux-based webcams and laptops and other newfangled stuff
 - All this stuff is based on Debian (and Ubuntu on the desktops)

The job will consist of:
 - Maintaining and supporting the above
 - Implementing new functionality (along with our development team) for
our clients and internal staff
 - Providing second tier technical assistance to our customer support
and development teams

The successful person will:
 - have a strong knowledge of Linux and an ability to research via the
dubious collection of howtos, mailing lists and google searches that
passes for a manual for us Linux-geeks :-)
 - an ability to (or at least an interest to learn about how to) manage
large numbers of Linux machines using tools such as cfengine, LDAP,
scripting languages (shell script and Perl) etc.
 - A love of fancy technology (like VOIP, clusters etc) and an interest
in using these to maximise productivity, minimise costs and otherwise
make a business run better
 - A strong belief that emacs is the one true text editor (vim is also
an acceptable response, just so long as you dont think Notepad is),
Debian the one true operating system (if you think Slackware or
something is, you will need to be "reeducated") and something other than
Visual Basic is the one true programming language ;-)
