We had a fairly low attendance tonight; Peter Dinnan, Ivor Sanders (new to KLUG) and myself (Lance Flavell). Nevertheless, the evening was fairly busy. We got to see "Elephants Dream", the world's first ever Open Movie (a 3D animated film created entirely from Open Source tools like The Gimp and Blender). See http://www.elephantsdream.org We discussed ways of getting the KLUG better known, as well as some ideas for events that even those with relatively little Linux exposure would enjoy. Next meeting we are planning on watching "Revolution OS", an 85 minute movie showing the story of how Linux came to be. Watch Linux legends like Linus Torvalds, Richard Stallman, Bruce Perens, Eric Raymond and others explain in their own words what drove them to making their contributions to GNU/Linux OS. See how the Open Source hackers managed to survive against repeated attempts to quash their progress. Get to hear of the original situations which sparked off the need for GPL. Heaps more things that you will want to know in order to understand the "why" of Linux. See http://revolution-os.com for details. This movie to show on Thursday 5th October. Lancer :-)
