Hi all, It's less than two weeks to our next meeting and I was wondering if we're going to have some form of agenda? Personally, while the group is still small, I'm quite happy with the socal chit-chat we've been having as per past meetings. Having said that... I jumped off the deep end a couple of weeks ago and am now 100% penguin :-) The deciding factor was the lastest development release of Scribus (v1.3.3.1) - it really is gaining momentum with regard to it's type setting tools, .pdf export and so on... yes, Lunux and DTP, finally, are a reality. Getting back to "having said that" - I'm more than willing to do a tutorial on Scribus; if there's any interest that is - I'm thinking the June meeting. This gives me time to build my working knowledge with the app. I'll also be quite keen to run a tutorial on basic typesetting (there's sooo much incompetent typesetting out there in the DTP world at present). Smart Package Manager: OK, I was wrong (never believe what one reads on web forums). Smart works very well with SuSE and I guess with most (all?) other distros. It was in fact the only way I could install the lastest GIMP (2.2.11) ...YaST didn't want to know - kept complaining about libcairo so2 (and how other installed apps relied on libcairo so1). Not so as it turned out... no other installed packages have broken :-) Anyway, as I've found out, Smart won't install if there's a conflict. Cheers, Peter
