I'm assuming that you are using the XH8136 7dB gain dipole antenna and the XH8137 10dB gain patch antenna, both from DSE. The 56 degree refers to the beamwidth of the antenna, usually defined as the width where the signal level drops to half that at the centre of the beam. The DSE datasheet at http://www.dse.co.nz/isroot/dse/support/XH8136_XH8137.pdf has radiation pattern diagrams although they are not very clear. The datasheet also says that the patch antenna is vertically polarised. This will depend on which way up you mount it. The only hint is a small drawing which shows the connector at the bottom. Mounting it on a vertical surface with the connector at the side will give you horizontal polarisation if this assumption is correct, and should see your received signal levels in the garage plummet again. I notice that DSE have the patch antenna at the reduced price of $91 (too much for me) until their stocks are exhausted. regards Mark ------------------------------------------------------------------- To remove yourself from this list, email klug-request at linux.net.nz with "unsubscribe" in the body of the message.
