I tried to run that one but it received little in the way of agreement. So the kitchen is in the house...and the server farm is in the garage. :-) > A few notes about antennae and radio, hopefully I am not preaching to the choir. Not at all! The information you provided is gratefully received. Particularly the information about 2.4GHz and the orientation of the antennae. Fortunately, the 7Db di-pole antenna is jointed, so I was able to orient it vertically.....which, if I understand you right, sees me on the same horizontal plane as the directional 10Db antenna....which has a 56 degree H/V 'coverage'. That one is located at the far end of the house and points down the length of the house....and toward the garage beyond (via the windows). > .... We > don't like 10% packet loss. Pick access points with two antennae. Good advice. > Great work on making yet more DSE stuff work in Linux, I hope you are getting > some kickbacks from them. Their stuff is cheap and cheerful and they choose it with a view to seeing it work with Linux. Their product 'chooser', Chris Day, works with the NZOSS and the NZLUG to see that Linux is supported as well as possible - either directly, as in some cases, or via OSS projects for writing the required device drivers to support the relevant chipsets. I know most folks will go for the cheaper, 'good-enough' option of they know it will work. On that basis, I try, buy and share info about DSE stuff. IMHO, DSE deserves some recognition for the effort they make to help us Linux users buy cool stuff for cheap..... :-) Thanks, Mark!
