Anyway a friend has been given a USB 600GB external disk that had been unplugged during a write. Windows wouldn't look at it. I took it apart and plugged it into a SATA cord on his box. Then used an old knoppix disk and QParted on it. I could create a single large linux partition of almost any type, but it is too large for FAT32.
