Hi,
I am wanting to run a EnGenius 600mW PCI Wireless card in AP (Master) mode
under Linux. It seems to work under Knoppix 4 live CD, but not with Ubuntu
Desktop 7.04. Idealy I would like it to be a Linux OS installed onto HDD,
but a live CD would do.
The problems I am having are it says Mode Not Supported when I try to change
to mode Master in Ubuntu:
sudo iwconfig ath0 mode Master
and when I change to power to 600mW it tells me Invalid Argument:
sudo iwconfig ath0 txpower 600mW
I have a feeling it's the driver causing the problem as Knoppix 4 uses
PCMCIA-based driver which works, Ubuntu however uses Madwii which is the
driver for Atheros chipsets and that doesn't work. (I have a AR5211 based
chipset I think).
If anyone knows how to get the card working at full power (600mW) in AP mode
I am willing to give SSH access or invite them round to my house (As long as
they let me know when) to fix it.
This is going to be used as the centerpoint of the Taradale Wireless
network, which anyone who asks can join. For more information visit
