[hblug] Have a question

I have a Hard Drive  that I am unable to activated.
This HD is the operating system drive on a compaq desktop.

I am unable to fire up the machine !

Have run some Recovery software over this HD .
This is giving me error messages  like

>>  cant find  [ root image ]
>> [ unmountiable Boot volume ]

I have very limited knowledge in this area of computing and are asking for
assistance to resolve this delema!
