Yes, that IP is default for Both devices BUT ..... it occurs to me
that both devices are intended to connect directly to the telephone
line. I'm not familiar with the M1122 but I seem to recall it's a
pretty old Nokia DSL Router.
Did you try leaving the new router at its default settings, connecting
it directly to the phone line and then using it's initial setup
function to do its thing? I understand that nearly all the adsl
modem/routers are smart enough to figure out what you need and
basically all you need to input are your username and password
Anyway I suggest you need to leave the M1122 as it is.
Assess the WL520 setup interface - usually at http://192.168.1.1 -
somewhere in there will be options that allow you to tell the device
how to authenticate with your ISP - turn this stuff OFF - you're gonna
let the M1122 do this.
Set the default IP address for the WL520 to a different subnet (in my
example I use 192.168.2.1). Set the DNS addresses to the DNS addresses
for your ISP - (Paradise use 203.96.152.4 and 203.96.152.12).
Now exit the setup interface and restart the router.
You should(tm) now be able to access the router setup pages with the
new IP address (192.168.2.1). Now, you can do any other fiddling you
think is needed, NAT, firewall etc.
Once you are satisfied the router is working properly for your INSIDE
network/LAN, (you can ping the other machines, ssh into them etc), you
can then connect the WAN interface on the WL520 to one of the LAN
sockets on the M1122.
1) From one of the LAN machines see if you can still ping the other
machines on your LAN.
2) From the same machine see it you can ping the M1122 (192.168.1.1)
3) Can you ping your ISP DNS addresses? (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)
4) Can you ping your ISP by name? (paradise.net.nz)
5) It works? yes/no
John
