Problem is computer books are out of date so soon, you may have problems
like "where's the book i donated?" or "this has nothing about CSS
transparency".
Having said that I am happy to loan mine, for short periods (hows your
PHP project going? Rene), but they are generally out of date references.
Even so I use them periodically for quick reference.
HTML Complete (First Edition 1999)
http://www.fishpond.co.nz/Books/Computers/Programming/HTML/product_info/1071806/
HTML Utopia: Designing Without Tables Using CSS (First Edition 2003)
http://www.fishpond.co.nz/Books/Computers/Programming/Software_Development/product_info/2687986/
Mambo: Your visual blueprint for building and maintaining Web sites
under the Mambo Open Source CMS (2006)
http://www.fishpond.co.nz/Books/Computers/Internet/Web_Page_Design/product_info/3669602/
And a laughably old one***
Web Publishing with netscape for busy people. (1996)
*** I include this one because it may still be useful for anyone wishing
to use "SeaMonkey Composer" as the Composer in Seamonkey is practically
unchanged from "Netscape Composer". It is so old it was written for
Netscape Navigator Gold 3.0 but may be a nice gentle intro for someone
using Seamonkey Composer, perhaps even NVu or Kompozer. I'll happily
give this away. ***
Generally if anyone wants to learn how to use Javascript, PHP, HTML or
CSS they need one *up to date* book which may be available online as
PDF, perhaps even free. But i prefer one tree reference on each topic as
it is just quicker and you can walk away from the keyboard and screen
until you are happy.
I also use Sitepoints HTML and CSS references ocassionally:
http://reference.sitepoint.com/html
http://reference.sitepoint.com/css
The PHP Manual is available online and has two NZ mirrors
http://www.php.net/manual/en/
http://nz.php.net/manual/en/
http://nz2.php.net/manual/en/
And i find Google usefull if done this way:
html *** tutorial
css *** tutorial
Where *** is replaced with the element or tag name as appropriate.
Work has the following, which may be viewed at work (Mosaic) by
appointment:
Windows Server 2008 the Definitive Guide
