Well one if you ask Rene, you can find out that I am definately NOT a
student, and when I was the student, I was the one telling the teacher
how to do stuff in Word, Excel and Publisher before she went up and
taught the class...
Also ask Rene how much of a "professional" I am. Sometimes I do act like
a kid sometimes but I wouldnt have this job at an Internet Cafe as a
Computer Technician, unless I can do the job and I am professional
enough to do it properly and I am always upskilling myself, I'm always
wanting to learn new technology, I love computers - they're my entire
life. I eat breath and speak computers. I'm ADHD so thats expected - my
entire life is based around computers.
I would also like to point that insulting people is quite simple via
email. Because I'm unable to knock you out as I would if you said that
to me in person.

I don't know why people call it a toy, or a nightmare to manage - its a
PC, and the management is all down to the software and methods you
choose to use - to all intents and purposes, its no different to an HP
desktop or a home-built gaming rig - you still have an OS, and the
ability to run whatever software tools (or OS) you need.
What can a $799 full-blown laptop do that an eeePC cant? - about the
only differences are screen res, CPU speed, and onboard storage.
---------------------
Well the fact that its a Celeron 900MHz - it does have a good amount of
RAM that you can upgrade to 2GB but we have come into some downsides.
Complaint #1 - Screen size
Complaint #2 - Its comparibly slow to even run XP stock standard.
Complaint #3 - Using WiFi, Skype has a limited amount of time on the
system because the CPU will heat up enough to make it a problem to
encode and decode the skype conversations effectively, we've found this
in just after 20-30minutes (depending on ambient temperature).
Complaint #4 - As Rene found out, he had to find a way to get another
operating system installed, he created a bootable SD flash card - we
have one USB DVD Drive.
Now the topic of maintaining the laptop in a internet cafe enviroment is
unbareable, because of these issues and they are the least used
computers in the shop.
Also it being called a 'toy' is justly called. A $799 laptop with DVD
Burner and full screen and 80-120gb hard drive and XP or Vista is a much
better system than the EeePC, but infact a $599 novely toy, it does have
its good advntages its tiny, it has a webcam and its a tiny laptop but
unless your a 13yr old girl who wants something thats cool, tiny, and
can access your bebo and read your email without to much hassle it's
perfect.
In the short amount of time the EeePC has be released, there are more
modifications to it than what there was for the iPod. Go count up those
modifications and remember that the EeePC was released just before Xmas
last year...

Has anybody actually located the mic for these things yet? Rene mentioned
it might be under the hinged part of the screen but I can't quite

The mic is just beside the webcam if i remember correctly.
