How about capturing/recording a desktop slideshow to avi?

Windows - 32Bit - GPL
http://sourceforge.net/projects/camstudio/

Linux - Gnome - X11 - GPL
http://sourceforge.net/projects/xvidcap/

Other possibilities

Yes modern DVD Players will access a directory of images and play them
as a slideshow.
I cannot use this option because it makes things to easy for those who
would print stills from the disk thereby circumventing the whole idea of
them coming back to purchase prints.
I need it stitched into a video clip so images cant be printed.
