[hblug] Win Modem Help

I have just joined HBLUG and am looking forward to the first meeting. I 
have just installed Ubuntu 7.04 and have managed to get everything 
running except my 56k dial up Win modem, heres the spec's;


Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC   (also known as Agere 
Systems PCI WinModem)


I have spent a bit of time on line trying to figure out how to get it to 
work, I've downloaded 'Martian' and  have so far not succeeded in 
installing it.

I have also looked at just buying an external modem, since I've been 
told they run straight out of the box (being a hardware based modem). 
The one I have been looking at is a 'USRobotics Sportster 56Kbps 
External Modem'.

If anyone has an old External modem that works under Ubuntu I would be 
quite happy to negotiate a price.

I'm not to sure what to do?
