[hblug] configuring apache mysql phpmyadmin

Good afternoon all - anyone out there had the misfortune of trying to 
get apache/mysql/phpmyadmin working?

I've used adept to install apache, mysql and phpmyadmin.

I'm trying to get an accounting program to work which requires these 
things..

When I go to http://localhost/index.htm ( which is actually 
/var/www/index.htm ) the page shows up fine.
When I go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/main.php the browser wants to 
download the main.php instead of displaying it..
So I figure Apache isn't running - but according to system services it 
is running.

I thought maybe it was a permissions issue, so ran the browser as root - 
but same result.

I have no mysql database setup as yet, but thats what phpmyadmin is for 
right?

The documentation says something about PHP running in "safe mode" - - my 
system-services does not even list anything php, running or not.
Unfortunately the documentation assumes you have everything running.

So should PHP<anything> be running? if so how does one get it to run? ( 
I always thought PHP was just a type of code )
