[hblug] Making a dialup connection

Ok maybe its different from Ubuntu then.
Applications>system>networking gives available connections ( in my case 
just the modem ) tick that and go to Properties - setup 
phone-number/login/password and tick "enable this connection" and close 
the properties dialog.
The modem is now ticked and enabled but no way to make it do anything..

Maybe something else needs to be installed?
