Addons.

Call me slow but i recently discovered this firefox addon called
AdBlock. Now i wouldn't be without it. There has been a huge upsurge
in flash advertising recently and all the technophile sites seem to be
innundated with it. AdBlock frequently tells me it stopped the
accessing of 25 out of 75 of the objects on the page. With the bandwidth
that flash objects take that can be a saving of 50% often for a page
download time. Speeds up dialup no end.

It does have it's negative side, it can occasionally prevent stuff you
would like to see. But, if you don't see it you don't miss it.

Anyway installing is a breeze, select the definition list you want to
start with and add to it, or just start your own list of ads/sites to
block from scratch.

On the technical side i think all it does is block certain websites, the
ones that run the ads on others websites. They are not the sites one
normally surfs to intentionally anyway. I haven't seen a "get the
facts" add since i started this.

Works back to Mozilla 4 if anyone is still running that.
