Just a thought, what about setting up a squid server for caching
packages (if you can get decent net access) or a complete ubuntu mirror
(if you can't get net access) and doing installs / updates at the event
itself ? My guess would be a lot of home users turning up at the event
would be interested in getting a linux PC right there, or at least
trying out, and it doesn't involve any inconvenience for them.
