[hblug] Refurbishing Computers

Talked to a bloke from the regional council today, and brought up the
refurbishing computers idea. He gave me some interesting information.

He has been looking for something like this, as he gets about six phone
calls a week asking about recycling/disposal of computer parts.

There is funding available from government for anyone starting a
recycling initiative.

Recently on a Dell recycle drive in Wellington they got 44 tons of
computers in 4 hours.

We therefore suspected that we would get between 6 - 20 tons if it was
advertised properly. An estimated 75% would be rubbish and be destined
for his landfill.

He would be happy to work closely with us. Free disposal of unwanted
parts. They do the advertising from the govt funding. We sell the
resulting good boxes.

I told him we had discussed it but may decide not to proceed. The ball
is in our court.
