I would suggest double-checking those settings.
Can you narrow down what part is "not working"? For example, is it just a
DNS problem? (Does browsing a numeric IP address work? Something like
http://61.202.238.17 )

No. If you are using the same Ethernet card for both your XP and your Linux
testing, it will be using the same MAC address.
