The person behind the desk is an artard, It will invalidate the software 
warranty. It wont invalidate the Hardware warranty...

All manufactuers supply a warranty containing a Software and Hardware 
warranty. It doesnt matter what Operating System is installed, physical 
damage isn't caused by the operating system...

Most people hired at DSE stores know little to nothing about anything...
They are a slight down to earth improvement on Noel Lemming stores where 
they hire anyone cuz they can sell stuff without caring if they know 
anyting about what it is at all...
