Hi Everyone,
Software Freedom Day is Saturday 16 September
First Thing:
First thing i need to know to make plans is who is available, and when you
are available.
We will be looking to cover: Napier, Taradale, Hastings (and maybe Havelock
- not sure about that one)
Maybe splitting the day into morning and afternoon would be a good approach.
One area in the morning (ie Napier/Taradale & Hastings) and the other in the
afternoon.
This all depends on how many people are available, and when etc.
Other Things:
The plan is to hand out ubuntu leaflets with a "business card" in them with
a way for people to contact someone about ubuntu. Are there any people who
would be happy to volunteer to have their name and phone number printed on
some of the cards (im going to be on some, but some other people would be
good, to share the job a bit).
Also it was suggested to me maybe we could buy a pack of baloons and put
ubuntu stickers on them. If we encounter any families the children would get
the baloons and the adults would get a leaflet. This would give us a way to
draw attention to ourselves.
Do we want to give out just Ubuntu cds or do we want to look at Kubuntu and
Edubuntu as well? - Edubuntu is aimed at teachers/edutational institutions.
With Ubuntu/Kubuntu, would we really only want to give out kubuntu if the
person we were giving it to knew what it was, or do we want to give them out
randomly? (keep in mind at the moment we have very limited numbers of
Kubuntu cds)
Finally, does anyone else have any other suggestions for things we could do
on the day?
Sorry for the long message,
Daniel
