Hmm. A few questions:

How many of the mosaic machines can Network Boot? i know 3 out of 4 of mine 
can. If some cant, we can use rom-o-matic (see here: 
http://www.rom-o-matic.net/)

Its either:
Network Boot
Rom-O-Matic (Floppy Boot)
or Burn a load of cds (im not supplying the cds :P )

As for the project: how about SETI? or one of the other horribly CPU 
intensive distributed computing programs that are out there
